My wife is descended from Davy Crockett so naturally all our kids have wanted to watch the old Disney shows about him and both Alamo movies. We let our kids know that most of what they see is complete BS. One bit of Disney BS is the scene in the wilderness where Crockett and Bowie drive off a much larger enemy force with a little trick the two of them have gotten adept at. They can fire and reload their guns much more quickly than normal men and can do so on the run. They run from hiding spot to hiding spot, firing rapidly and giving the impression to the enemy that they are up against a much larger fighting force than they really are. This forces the enemy to retreat when, if they knew they were only facing two men, they'd charge in and rapidly defeat them.

Thanks to Media Matters, I have been getting The Limbaugh Wire, a daily update on topics, with quotes, covered on the Limbaugh show, for a little over a year now. So I thought it would be a little fun to go back in time, one year, and see how all those comments and predictions from Limbaugh are working out.
After only looking back at one week of material that Limbaugh covered this time last year, my conclusion is that he should change his name to “Nostra-dumbass.”
One Year Ago - Part 1
03/25/2009 - LIMBAUGH: What more do the -- what more does this government expect of the American people? Well, I'll tell you: higher taxes. That 95-percent tax cut for 95 percent -- off the table now. Gone. Off the table. In fact, Obama is looking for new ways to raise taxes. You people in the 95 percent, it was always going to be the case. You were never going to get a tax cut, but now it's official.

Greetings good citizen,
Hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday in as much as they weren’t too disappointed with how things have turned out.
Once again it was a semi-eventful holiday respite with Mr. Geithner’s Treasury providing the bankster community with a special Christmas ‘present’. A present in the form of removing the ‘cap’ from Fannie & Freddie’s ‘balance sheets’ so these two mortgage cesspools holding tanks can expand their holdings of toxic paper…in essence making investors ‘whole’ at 100 cents on the dollar at, what else? Taxpayer expense!
Um, if you missed this little gem that’s okay, you were supposed to, that’s why the press release was scheduled for Christmas Eve sometime after 5:00…
Um, this sort of brings us to tonight’s offering which deals with ‘news items’ you may not have heard anything about… [Hat tip: Cryptogon]

My wife posted her first diary today over at DKos entitled You Might Be A Wingnut If and when I read it, a couple of things stuck out to me. The first was an exchange she quoted at the end of her diary:
Kossacks certainly have been
...extremely independent but recently I think I have detected a change of tone at this blog. Some diarists and commenters seem to be promoting Party and Administration policy, not so much analytically agreeing with them, as shilling for them. I've seen people who disagree with an approved position called Nader-ites or worse, Clintonistas, simply for saying that an approved policy doesn not seem well advised. What is going on here? Or am I imagining things!

Twitter Finally Cracking Down on Spam
One of the major issues for those using Twitter is the increasing prevalence of spam advertising messages. These annoying tweets clutter your Twitter stream with unwanted messages that are thrown at you by advertisers, much the way you get spam in your email box. Up until recently, there has been no way of flagging spammers on the Twitter service.
Joseph Lyles Update?

Magazine signed by John Lennon
Posted September 17th, 2009 by herozA 1966 magazine signed by John Lennon containing his remark that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus has sold for $12,713.
An orthopedia surgeon at New York's Mount Sinai Medical Center had the winning bid Thursday in a 17-day online auction run by RR Auction of Amherst, N.H.
Lennon signed "John C. Lennon" above his photo in the September 1966 "Datebook," even though his middle initial is W. for Winston.
In the magazine, Lennon said: "Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue about that; I'm right and I will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now. I don't know which will go first — rock 'n' roll or Christianity."
His comment provoked much anti-Beatle sentiment in the United States, where some people burned their Beatle records.
Brian Jones
Posted September 16th, 2009 by sewaThe line for suspected killers of Rolling Stones co-founder Brian Jones forms at the left.
As conspiracy theorists salivate over the British police's recent decision to look into Jones' drowning 40 years ago, the band's former road manager on Monday accused a deceased World War Two veteran of killing the ill-starred virtuoso.
Sam Cutler pointed the finger at Tom Keylock, the band's former chauffeur. Keylock allegedly coaxed a death-bed confession 16 years ago out of his friend Frank Thorogood, a builder who immediately became the pundits' prime suspect.
While there is no hard evidence linking either man to Jones' death in his own swimming pool, Cutler said Keylock acted suspiciously in the ensuing days, removing or destroying items at Jones' house.
Moreover, he disclosed that Keylock was the only suspect in a hitherto-undisclosed private investigation launched by the band's Allen Klein, who had little confidence in the British police.
Where is Joe Lyles?
Posted August 27th, 2009 by bpj1138What happened to him? He's not on the schedule. Also, since you guys moved, I can't get your signal. Lastly, can you post low bandwidth sound files (mp3, wma, or rm format) of the broadcasts so I can download them and listen at home.
I Hate Spammers, And I'm Tired Of Them Too

For a couple of years, we have been pretty much SPAM free here. That is because I installed a CAPTCHA for users to use when registering, and certain other times. The CAPTCHA basically eliminates the use of bots to post SPAM.
Here over the past couple of weeks, I have been alerted to a new invasion of SPAMMERS. I have tightened some controls over posting content, but the persistent little bastards keep posting it.
Guess what. There is very little on this earth that pisses me off worse than those SPAM bastards. I'm going to do something about it, and I know what. I won't even be that hard.
I can cost the people behind them -- the "businesses," such as they are, who hire spammers -- an assload of money. It will cost me very little -- and I might make some money in the process, while giving the world a demonstration that yes, you can fight those bastards.
